PREMIERE OF FILM ON ADVENTIST EDUCATION

On November 19, La Sierra’s School of Education and the Education office of the Pacific Union Conferencehosted the premiere showing of The Blueprint: The Story of Adventist Education. It was held in the La Sierra University Church with 185 present. Dr. Elissa Kido and Dr. Norman Powell received awards and gifts in recognition of their outstanding work for Adventist Education.

BUILDING SUPPORT FOR ADVENTIST EDUCATION: THE BIG GOAL

Two conferences (Central California Conference and Southeastern California Conference) are already using a program that includes sophisticated proprietary software to help them

  • describe the educational landscape of their conference and identify its stakeholders,
  • track the complex interactions of various stakeholder groups in Adventist education in their area and identify both strategic opportunities that would help achieve desired goals and threats against them,
  • create stronger or new coalitions to support Adventist Education,
  • determine what stakeholder activities would most effectively boost support and enrollment in Adventist schools, and
  • provide information for data-driven decisions/strategies related to Adventist Education in the conference.

The analysis of the data will provide these two conferences with information required to develop a comprehensive strategy to build support for Adventist education.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND WELLNESS RELATIONSHIP WITH ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Adventist education philosophy is holistic, including the development and training of the cognitive, spiritual, and physical facets of individuals. Valuegenesis and CognitiveGenesis have investigated the first two components of the triad. Southern Union has been the driving force forĀ investigating the physical component. It is with heightened interest and excitement that CRAE accepts the invitation of Southern Union to join them and Loma Linda University School of Allied Health in this investigation. CRAE is especially interested in the relationship between physical fitness and academic achievement.

NEW CRAE INITIATIVE: GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) MAPPING

Currently, there is no GIS mapping of Adventist schools in the North American Division. GIS would allow us to visualize data in new and different ways that could help solve problems. CRAE is undertaking this project as an aid in its research and to provide other entities with geographically referenced information that could help in decision-making.
